THE TERROIR

Located between the Côte de Beaune to the north and the Mâconnais to the south, the Côte Chalonnaise forms a narrow set of gently sloping hills which extend 25 km long.

Of its five municipal appellations, Bouzeron is the only one dedicated to Aligoté. Combined with crème de cassis, this grape variety is the origin of Kir, the Burgundy aperitif. If Rully remains the cradle of Crémant de Bourgogne, Givry and Mercurey are known for their red wines often compared to those of the Côte de Beaune, while Montagny is celebrated for white, its only color.

It is on soils composed of limestone and marl that the grapes ripen here to produce wines combining finesse and power, the vines receiving more sun than those of northern Burgundy. No Grand Cru here, but the Côte Chalonnaise boasts 140 Premier Cru climats!

A RICH RURAL HERITAGE

Walk along the Vaux Valley, crossing a succession of small villages with typical houses of the Côte Chalonnaise with its crosses, wash houses and churches. Discover old winegrowers’ houses, medieval castles and old mills.

Meet winegrowers proud of their region and taste their wines. You will savor Pinot Noirs with delicious fruitiness and fine tannins, powerful and complex Chardonnays, without forgetting Aligotés offering incomparable freshness and minerality!
